Diamonds Forever was bred by Matthews Roses to celebrate 60 years of rose growing in New Zealand. Diamonds Forever has a lovely fragrance and is an upright, deciduous shrub with thorny stems bearing pinnate leaves divided into ovate, toothed, dark green leaflets and, from late spring into autumn, large, fragrant, double, yellow flowers, paler at the outer petals. Diamonds Forever will reach a height of 0.8m and a spread of 0.6m after 2-5 years.
Suggested uses: Beds and borders, containers, cottage gardens, picking for vases
Roses prefer a soil which has good water holding capacity but is never waterlogged. A clay loam is ideal but roses will grow in most soils. Improve light soils by digging in plenty of compost and prepare the ground by deep digging prior to planting.
Roses love lots of sun but they will be fine with some afternoon shade. Five hours of sunlight is adequate. Most roses won’t do well in a very windy position but they do need good ventilation. An overcrowded situation makes them more susceptible to disease.
